Default JP300+ ran a 10.8@124 mph, 1.53 60' @ WSID 1/8/07

Guys,

Thought you might be interested...

I flew back from Malaysia this morning, Jim @ Tunehouse rang me at about 2pm and said come in he, had a cancellation and had some time to tune the car. He spent about an hour trying a few different tuning tricks. We loaded up three tunes in the flash box and at about 5 pm headed to WSID. We filled the tank up with Vpower (98 octane from the local servo)...

We got out to WSID a bit late tonight. Had my first and only run at about 8:45pm.

The car ran a 10.8s @124 mph straight off the bat ... first time out with the new converter setup!!

1.53 sec 60' on MT ET Streets (12 months old!!)

I was greeted in the tunnel by three officials and they waived me down and told me to go home. Mission Accomplished ... BANNED!!

The car went out with just under 380 rwkw on the first tune and that was enough to run the 10 sec pass. Tune 2 had just over 400rwkw and Tune 3 had 425rwkw !!

Next mission is to drive the car to Melbourne and run a 10s pass @ Calder or Heathcote. The ET Streets are in the boot ready to go !!!

Firstly, well done. Thats a ripper!

Secondly, mate, should have done your homework more! If the 380 tune got you in the 10s, tune 3 would have had you banned with a bang!!!!! : Maybe mid-low 10?

Here is my homework ...

I was running out of time on the night .. the first run was at 8:45pm ... they run the burnout comp at 9pm and close at 10pm. I waited 1.5 hours in line for a single ruin. I might not have had a chance at a second run.

I was also worried about breaking traction off the line and in 2nd gear. This happened to me in the past when I was running up over 400rwkw.

I was also told that cracking a 1.5 sec 60 footer was very hard on the MT ET Streets ... I was surprised when I cracked the 1.53 60' time ...

It's not how much power you have on a dyno or at the flywheel ... It's how much you can put to the ground at the track without breaking traction.

It was fun ! :

I also forgot to add that this was the first run with the new stall converter so I did not know what was going to happen ...

On the street with slicks or street tyres I was loosing traction holding the car in third gear flattening it at 120 kph !!

A mate only managed 2 passes on the night and arrived at 6.30pm, sounded like a very frustrating wednesday night.

And yeh a 1.5 60' is awsome on MT streets well done.

Yeah ... I got a bit worried when we were approaching the 9:00pm drags and I had not even completed a single pass ...

The frustration was all over in about 10 seconds!! Pretty pricy when you think about it $45 for 10 sec of fun !! Makes you wonder with the real drag racers spending millions for 4.5 seconds of fun ...

Geeze I better find another hobby !!

Congrats man excellent time. It would be a little frustrating waiting in line that long. But at least east west & north Australia has a line to wait in to get to race. Oh how I wish for AIR.

Thanks Guys ... There has been a lot of development in the car and I still have a few ideas on what can be done to maximise the current setup.

I will be driving down to Melbourne with the ET streets in the boot to try and crack into the 10s down there too ..

Atomic rods, Ross pistons, standard crank ... nothing too special.

Heads & cams are standard with a bit of cleaning up here and there.

Yes Grunta that is right ...

The question was about Internals and I assume that refers to the bottom end. It has been rebuilt like many other BA MK1's which have been pushed beyond 400rwkw.

Other mods: I've got a Nizpro Plenum, AVO cooler, bigger injectors, exhaust, and 044 intank pump. The Turbo has been high flowed using the original compressor and exhaust housings.

I killed the 4sp auto and smashed a couple converters on the way (approx 1200 nm of torque at 2500-3000 rpm).

It's a 3000 rpm stall converter, very streetable, can be driven in the traffic and on the freeways and has little impact on economy.... Not like your car which you say has turned into a guzzler since you put in your BIG converter and now you say you are lucky to get 200Ks to the tank around town.

I'm still getting 350 - 400 ks around town and 500 - 550 in the country. That's on the same "street" tune that I ran the 10.8 sec pass!! The car is running 95 octane fuel in it now with that tune and does not seem to mind it...

Did I leave anything out? ... Oh ... and a signature flash tune from Jim at Tunehouse !!

The question was about internals ... I did not know that gearbox, plenum and a converter where classified as internals..

The car runs a rebuilt bottom end as the BA MK1s do not seem to last long with 400+ rwkw... :

Yes, Rebuild Auto with 3000 rpm stall (very streetable), Nizpro plenum, injectors, bigger cooler, Meguiars Gold Class wax are part of the mods ... Should I mention the air freshener?

The car is running the street tune, which ran the 10.8sec pass, quite happily on the road with 95 octane fuel.
