Not likely mate. I'm heading out tomorrow night to to punt it down the strip for the first time, hopefully nothing breaks : and hopefully i dont put in into a wall.

It's a completely different car to drive now and i need to learn how to thrash it all over again, i had an encounter with a respectable turbo'd ED last week and it put some 4-5 lengths on me off the line. I babied 1st and tried to hit it in 2nd but had to back off twice and by third gear it was all over in a big hurry. Even on the baby tune it's got big potential but getting that power down to the ground is another story. My main concern for now is not blowing anything and getting a good launch tech down.

It would be hard Leigh, being a sedan and having plenty of power will mean the CV's will be at risk and street tyres would allow some give, but you need sticky rubber to get some sort of decent grip

You will have fun working it out anyway!

Haha...good show...I bet them holden boys were drooling...lol...

You are going to be hard pressed to get a good launch on the dunlops, play with the tyre pressures a little too. Know anyone that has a good set of nitto's you could borrow for a run or two for that night. Looking forward to seeing you bettering your PB.

Cheers

Turbo's need load to spool turbo and an auto is way better at that, more consistent too...
I find over revving and hitting rev limiter the biggest part to get around in my head as you try too hard.In my case a manual..Deff need shift light and some ecu tuning to build boost on line...
One doesn't want to damage there ride either...
I guess you can drive fast and be lazzy on engine now???

Yea one of them who bought a modded Vr SS the day before was lit drooling, he came with me when i did it and then followed me around for the next 4 hours and wouldn't shut up.

Going to run it in street trim to start with, 1st is usless and you need to be catious in 2nd. Hit it to hard and it'll just lay rubber, from a slow roll it'll spin from 45oorpm+. As soon as i sell my rims im buying some new 19's and they'll be wrapped in nitto's. If i don't beat my Pb of 14.1 i'll be :, im not expecting any big number's i just want to get some good runs in to get used to it.

Thats the prob with the dunlops. I had trouble too with the dunlops at my meet. I ran my pressure's as normal 40psi. I should have dropped it to like 30 or less, but as I was inexperienced at the 1/4 & didn't know this till rod mentioned it one night. It may help. Just ease her off the line and feather your throttle a little & don't try too hard. I think you will better that PB easy if you get it out of the hole right. Good Luck mate and do us proud. What night you running?

Cheers.

Thanks for the advice mate, will give it a go. I also noticed my best et came from driving it off the line rather than trying to launch it. I'll be doing the same thing this time but with alot more caution.

I'll be racing tomorrow night. The only way i wont better that et is if it doesn't make it to the other end. Even if i back off it'll still roll through the traps quicker lol.

I found the exact same thing mate, normal road pressures (38-40), try to launch hard but roll off first then throttle it

The dunlops let down to below 30 felt like crap. One person said that those tyres will never get enough sidewall flex at low psi to maximise the grip when moving like drag slicks do, makes sense

Yep same thing here..tried to launch her..didn't work, nothing but wheel spin. I did the usual street light takeoff without wheel spin and got much better times. Wednesday night will be very busy, damn...anyway post up your times tomorrow night and have fun. Thats what it's all about. Even if you don't better your PB, at least your out there giving it a go. I think you will better your PB though...good luck mate.

Cheers
