And be so modest about it. What about being to old to race, with the walking stick and Beard..............and leaving Australian shores because of over zealous scrutineers.............

I'm surprised Phil Irving didn't get a mention.

I was at the Ford Discovery Centre in Geelong yesterday, and as well as seeing some really cool vehicles in the low volume display, witnessed a local tape playing on repeat about 20 minutes long. Speed trials for the 'new' Falcon around the You Yangs. Grew hair on my chest just watching it.

I know it's only 3 x 45 min series but last night no mention of the 70000 miles in 7 days to prove Falcon reliability, no mention of Bill Bourke who was key in the development of the GTHO and as for "Hey Charger" if you blinked you missed it. It would have been nice to see one of those old advertments. Every time you see Bill Brown roll his GTHO you wonder how he survived.

No mention of the XR GT and Ford being the first to release a V8 option (I think Chrysler were the first to fit a V8 to the top of the line VIP?) across the range.

They said the Monaro was a response to Australian cars being so boring, but we all know it was the XR GT that changed things and the Monaro was just Holdens response, but I guess it only matters what Holden does.

Being repeated on ABC 2 at 8:35.... now.

Agree with Buggerlugs.. Both companies are Yank multinationals in the end. so just enjoy the show for what it is.
They even called Ford and Holden fans bogans in it. Too funny..

More on the Charger is my only complaint.

What did everyone think of tonight's episode?

I loved all the retrospective footage seen in the series, but I don't agree on their message at the end about electric cars completely taking over

I reckon thats true about the electric cars, considering you can get all your power and torque the moment the motor starts spinning, rather than needing to spin it up to 6000 RPM for example. All that needs to improve is batteries as they're not good enough for electric cars to go mainstream.

Electric cars are definitely coming though, but I feel there will always be desire for the traditional type of engine, that is the internal combustion.

That is very true. Take my RC car for example, it is doing about 70-80kph, we were chasing it in the fairmont and I had to slow down to let the fairmont catch up, because the RC car went from 0-70/80 in split second.

I am still waiting for episode 3 to begin here.

So nothing has changed then.

..........

I liked the first episode because it went through some great history of different makes what the big players were doing as well as the back yarders. The second episode was disappointing because it was just about Holden really. Nothing about other manufactures in Aus. Oh well can't win them all. But it has been a good show.

Try getting 35mm film developed today. Chances are individual desire wont be the downfall, as more and more hit the road and they become the norm the lack of consumers will probably lead to the product to fuel it being very hard for the public to get hold of.

I can

Anyone know if the might be extra footage on the DVDs? I think I'll be getting one myself and maybe one for my Dad for Christmas. Really enjoyed the series but yes, very much a Holden bias throughout.
