Nice results, it this one of Troy's duel plain manifolds?
And what brand of heads, if you don't mind? Seems the 2V's run quite well with the extra cubes, mine also has the 'small' 2v heads

Hi XT302,

Sorry for such a late reply im not much of a poster bud. There has been lots of changes made to the car after the engine built by RPM LET GO!!! The engine died while i was cruising on the M7. The engine was removed from the car, an autopsy was done, and the damage was assessed. Few bent valves, split bore in number 5 cylinder, broken eagle 4330 crank, 2 pistons in bits and 2 rods mangled, very badly damaged main bearings, which looked odd as the engine was only 3500 klm old . So i had a spare engine built by Pavtek sitting on a stand at home - a Gold pro package with a duel plane manifold, 393 stroker, chi 3v heads and so on. I dropped it in the Rhino and on the first time out it ran a best time of 11.41 @ 122 mph. Not bad not even tuned just the timing set

Very impressive. Makes me wanna go out and have a go. Maybe after I upgrade the ignition and add a limiter and rebuild my shifter.
As asked what brand of 2V's were they mate and also what type/size cam where you using in the 393 unless you'd rather not say. More interested in heads. Any tips on racing the manual with gearing like that mate? What revs do you launch at? I am now running 3.5's (rather than 4.11's I took out) with a toploader and pretty sure I have no idea or would be crap to start with trying to race. Its a Iron 2V 366 with a 600+lift solid etc so like revs.

Miletica,
after yesterdays effort when are you switching trades and opening your own shop?

Home built (his first attempt at building an engine) taking to thE experts :-)

New pb I thought the 11.01@125 was good but backed up with a 10.91@125 still manual and with a dual plane gotta love it.

Congrats again and look forward to the next pb cheers.

Have a look at that youtube vid posted here with the launch.....the big thing with a manual and slicks is after the clutch dump and traction bites in....the car will really want to pull the engine revs down and stall the car. ie: you don't have a hi-stall converter to keep the revs up.

So.....rule number 1: don't be worried about your first ET....just don't stall the car with the GM plonkers looking

Then it's simply a matter of balancing the revs to get a nice launch. Too low and it will bog off the line.....too high and you might "shock" the tyres and blow them off with a bit of wheel spin.....or fry your clutch Just a matter of getting out there and having some fun and taking things steady. I wouldn't worry about the stress of pulling great times on your first time out.....just get a feel for the car. Over a my first few visits I ended up pulling almost 2 seconds off the times.

Hi XYGTHO You may have a little more torque than me but Ive always run my best time dropping it at 5500 + rpm never had much luck with a big clutch ride with my "no low down torque 351", that is provided you have drag radials or better. cheers
