quick question guys... my TDCi has 20k on the clock and i need to top up my coolant resivoir. can i buy coolant from autobarn or somewhere or do i need to buy stuff from Ford???

I'm not sure myself as I haven't had to touch anything since I bought the car, why is your coolant low?

I'd get the Ford stuff. You have to be really careful mixing different colours etc. The Ford stuff is not that expensive

Sometimes if you mix different coolants then it'll start to go jelly like and clog up your radiator and will be damn annoying to flush out.
If it just needs a minor top up just use a bit of water. It should be at about a 33% coolant and 67%water, but it's only a rough estimate. How far below the low line is it??

its only just under the min mark. checked it while the engine was cold and also hot. i know not to mix colours... ill pop into ford tomorrow and pick some up.

either use ford coolant or top it up with DISTILLED water, NEVER mix coolants...if you need to change coolant, flush the system totally...

ok got some coolant from Ford today.....1lt bottle was $41.... not happy about that but meh
bottle says to top up mix 10% concentrate to 90% water (im guessing)...can anyone confirm this seeing as BSSXR8 said about 33%...which i have always done with other cars? |

ok...after a bit of reading...and a few calls to other ford dealers....turns out the dealer i went to sold me R150...which is a corrosion inhibitor that gets added to the cooling system. the other dealers said i need R152...which is correct after looking in the manual.
the service manager said that the difference in code is only because of the different size bottles the coolant is available in  : i called the dealer today and after about 30mins of arguing with them they still did not admit they sold the wrong stuff to me. |

Ford can never be wrong lol.. I noticed that my coolent kept droping slowly and I was constantly filling it up. Turned out that i had a leak in my radiator. Bloody FOCUS!!
