You might be able to pck one up from a wreckers somewhere or maybe order one from the USA just keep it under A$1000.00 to avoid having to pay duty & gst.

They do look great without a spoiler. Thats totally a different look. Instead of spoiler, spend that amount on nice set of wheels and exhaust and see the difference. The way it looks and drives. You will love it.

Agree, I think the Cougar looks better with a spoiler but that's my personal opinion. I had the old 'small' spoiler on mine from purchase but replaced it with the Eibach/Visteon wing (which was just over $600AUD a few years back from Ford) very hard to source one in Oz now, except from a wrecker or someone giving theirs up.
Failing sourcing a good wing, definitely look at suspension and cosmetic changes as well as the exhaust etc to improve an already good looking car Dan

Baz, Dave is right. With exhaust mod you get more power and great looks. More than those its the sound which makes your ride different. Check out some pics of the exhaust on my cat. I didnt clean the chrome tips otherwise they look great. You can change the whole exhaust like Dave, he got it from US delivered or you can just change the rear half. I have two mufflers at the back with twin outlets. You find this setup on V8s usually. Again you have choice here, you can have single catalytic converter and split right after the catalytic converter to left and right rear mufflers or two separate exhausts from engine with 2 catalytic converters and 2 mufflers. Depends on how much you want to spend. Mine is still standard until catalytic converter and it splits from there to left and right and I have mufflers at the rear end and cant be seen from outside. Rear end of Cougar is designed in such a way that it can accommodate 2 mufflers on each side and it sounds normal under 2000 rpm and its loud over 2000rpm.

Yes, try and find a performance/custom exhaust place where you will have more choice.

baz let us know the price first before you do anything......I replaced my whole exhaust from the catalytic converter back with stainless steel including a stainless muffler for about $1000.00. This means I will NEVER have to replace anything on mine EVER again.
At the moment all I have is ONE muffler.........and it is not really that loud until you put the boot into it and then it HOWLS. |
