Nothing about the birth of a legend, the GT Falcon.
No mention of the greatest car in Australian muscle car history, the GTHO phase 3, nothing. The fastest 4 door production car in the world at the time. No mention of Dick Johnson and "The Rock", another legend born at Bathurst. Very disappointing from that respect. Well I did my bit for the blue oval, but at no time did I say my car was supercharged, but the old girl scrubbed up well, some great camera shots, I was pretty pleased.

They said that when Ford pulled out of racing Moffat was without a job, not long after they showed the Moffat/Bond 1-2, 3 or 4 years later. No mention that he continued racing Fords, just that he no longer had a job.
And then they said that Moffat joining Brock to race a Commodore in Europe was Ford and Holden joining forces. No mention of Moffat having been racing Mazdas for a few years prior with no racing for Ford at all. Just a dumb link to make. Was quite a common thing of the series to paint Ford in a bad light while making Holden look like gods. The media continuing to portray Holden as Australia's own sickens me. Ford were mentioned as the big evil american corporation while Holden was not american at all. |

Was yours the yellow XC interceptor. It looked absolutely immaculate. I don't know why they claimed it was supercharged just cause the Mad Max interceptor was though. |

The Electric Car Lobbyist reckons once the IC engine driver is left standing at the lights they will soon switch to electric. Maybe but personally driving an IC engine car is about the total experience not just the acceleration. Take my 42 year old mustang....a stock VW Golf Diesel will probably leave me at the lights but I know what I'd rather be driving.......

Bigtime fail. Lets not mention the new Porsche 911, Ferrari 458, Lambo Aventador, McClaren MP4-12C etc, cars which would absolutely hose any electric car anywhere, anytime, anyplace. Some of the supposed facts and opinions used in this series needed to be thouroughly checked over, something they failed to do, resulting in a load of inaccuracys and misguided opinions. |

I watched this series and have mixed feelings. The first episode was brilliant I thought, telling a lot of stories of some real pioneers, I particularly liked the stories of Francis Birtles, and Kew Garage.
From the second episode however it took a bit of an ugly turn, they missed 3 key moments in my book, They spoke about the beginnings of Bathurst, but didn't mention that the first 2 races were won by Harry Firth and Bob Jane in a Ford Cortina. Secondly how the hell did they miss the XR GT, the first locally built V8, single headedly started the muscle car craze, although going by this production one would swear it was the Monaro (which was released 12 months after the GT) Lastly, The Supercar scare. While they did mention it, they didn’t do it justice, and made out as if it was all Ford’s doing, If I remember correctly (not that I was there) there was a Falcon, Charger and Torana involved. They had it so right at the start, but lacked balance towards the end. Quote:

It wasn't a bad series, but somhow managed to leave the impression that Ford is an evil global giant and Holden it the little aussie meat pie. It became to much of a brock/gmh fest as the series went on imo.

I am thinking that some of us lot could get together and start a show on aussie cars and then maybe make the best car fanging movie ever.
Maybe something with a bit mad max type of cars with Trippytaka & pottery beige at the wheel and jim goose talking sh-- with old flappy riding an old bike swinging a chain etc. |

I just watched Mad Max 1 on the weekend and they certainly don't make films like thay anymore. It got me thinking all kinds of things. It was made for $300k back in the day.

I guess that kind of drive in their career is what made them successful? I enjoyed the series and it does show how much Australia and cars have changed over the years. One thing that rang true is that driving is no longer as enjoyable as it once was and the quality of drivers has gone down hill dramatically.
