Thanks for the info. Any chance you could post a photo.
Prefix should be JG70RL. Can you tell us a little more or perhaps send me an email. Cheers.

Sorry, you are correct on the numbers
Have owned this car for 16 years, believe we are only the second owner. Car has no modifications, and is in very good condition. First registered in Queensland. You will note when I manage a photo the missing white stripe down the sides, but no rust to my knowledge. Minor bits and pieces to be fixed if we wanted it in better condition. No plans to do anything other than fix things as we go. Manage to drive it most weekends, but only when no clouds can be seen (seals around windows are 39 years old....) Got the same headlight problem noted in and earlier post and despite moving all the vacuum hoses i still can't get the covers to open when the motor is running. Will post photos over the next couple of days if I can figure out how to do it. Last edited by Pbonomy; 19-04-2014 at 07:05 PM. Reason: Spelling |

If you are after more information on the car; you can contact Ford Australia; the seller; AFF member 'landau jon', or if it was registered in Victoria - The Association of Motoring Clubs. Also, if you provide more information, some AFF forum members may be aware of the history of the vehicle. Hopefully, someone may have the compliance plates (seller?), however I am unaware of them being reproduced, as it may be illegal. Good to hear of another Landau being saved. Enjoy the experience. |

Hi, I'm new to this forum but would like to advise you of my Landau sitting happily inside my shed at present.
I have not seen another like it before, in that it is originally equipped (from the dealership in W.A.) with a full factory ford spoiler kit front/rear/side, Delta colour coded mag wheels, Michelin XGT tyres (original at 48,000ks) showing signs of their age however, Sandstone Beige in colour and immaculate interior. Oh yeah it has a sun roof, but not the hide away type, rather the manual latch opening type sunroof. All signs point towards fitment at the inception of the cars life at the dealership prior to sale or special ordered, as opposed to later on in life. I am not sure what the best way is to register the Landau details so your advice on this would be greatly appreciated. Car is currently situated in S.A.

Thanks Wil, I will send you an email.
The general consensus is that all Landaus came from the factory the same way and the dealer fitted the spoilers mags etc once it reached the dealership. As for the sunroof fitment, it is my understanding from chatting to a few people that the dealers were not keen to go to the trouble of fitting sunrooves so they would charge like a wounded bull and if the customer still wanted it, it could be done. I believe there is extra roof bracing that happens when fitting a sunroof, so unless Ford were selling the bracing to dealers to fit them, I would guess that the dealer would put in an order for a Landau with a sunroof and they would do it at the factory. Would be nice to here from someone if they know otherwise. Wouldn't seem to make sense to build a Landau with vinyl roof and then pull it apart inside and out to cut it up, weld it up and fit the sunroof then put it all back together, but lets wait for someone who knows.

I dont know if it is the best way but i have heard that someone lays down presses both feet against the top of the window from inside the car.
Dont try to remove the moulds first as it can damage them.

Hi in my experiance the best and safest way to remove windows from old cars with rubber seals without breaking them is either pay a professional or cut the rubber from the inside and dont push too hard in one spot and dont do it in extreme cold or heat they can explode.

Thanks Jon, I did remove the moulds very carefully as they are in mint condition and yes I found out very quickly that it is a difficult task, but with patience and persistence I got them out, now all that's left to do is push the window out...
