Default Weighing the BA XR8........

Hi guys,

weighed the beast today on the Hume public weighbridge behind my factory,

BA XR8 ute
completely empty, fuel light on, no spare, no jack

OPTIONS
brembo's
sunroof
rear spoiler and decklid
auto
6 stack CD
pass airbag

Thats about all.........

it weighed in at 1820kg exactly, minus me.

The spare and towbar and jack would EASY go an extra 30kgs, but i race without them.

I also take the decklid off, which would make it 1780 odd. I weigh in at 90, making 1870.

with the fuel in, its an easy 1900 plus.

damn these things are heavy........................

Damn that's heavy!!! Than there's the 12.94 you've run, those BOSS motors really are an impressive unit.

Does it cost money to weigh a car on a weighbridge? I'm interested to know what my car actually weighs.

Yes heavy, but look at the time the Boss is pulling now, it show's there is some real power there. I'd like to see a LS1 with similar weight????.

Interesting Chris, confirms what we had thought they weigh'd at the track, 1900+

There wouldnt be much difference between auto/manual?

You could also try a weighbridge at the local tip or quarry weigh-in station...but they probably wouldnt like it with nothing on board!

BA XR8 UTE is the heavest Falcon ever made, the full rails allow this to become a one ton ute with a suspension change.
We best find some horse jockeys for drivers.
.
The weigh bridge is just before Kmart on the Hume Hwy.

I used the one behind me on northbourne rd.

I have always wanted to run on a weight break, even against an opened LS1, just to see the difference.

Mark, what would be the difference between a 1 tonne tray and the tub with liner??

When your car goes in for scrutineering on the left lane there is a weigh bridge there...At WSID...
Check the weight !!!

I have been told the rear of the ute (tub) if you unbolt it, you only save 140 kilo's in weight.
.
the one ton tray, i am not sure what it weighs, there made of alloy.
.
i think i may go weigh mine, i have a huge assed aftermarket amp and speakers with me driving mine would be the heaviest getting around.
think i should be banned from the pizza shop after Calder.:eclipsee_

I had mine on the local tip weigh bridge, it came in at 1.86 tonne. I was about 80kg and I had half a tank of juice in it. Taking say 110kg(me and the juice) off that would bring it back to about 1750, that's Ford's estimation spot on.

Quoted weight of XR8 sedan manual is around 1805kg. Utes are supposed to be around 50 kg heavier.

You name the weighbridge, I'll be there.

You have a better chance of a night with kyle thruster than of being within 100kg's of a REAL mans car dude!!

If anyone in the eastern suburbs of melbourne wants to weigh their car, they can just go to Kilsyth pick-a-part, don't go into the pick-a-part entrance though, go to the next one on the right you can just drive on and it'll display the weight on a screen, if you want a printout it costs though. It's free we have tested two cars now.

Had my car on the weigh bridge on Northbourne Rd today.

My car is a BA XR8 Sedan - with about 20lts in the tank. Still had spare and jack onboard - minus me.

1760 Tare weight. Its lighter than i tought it would be. Then looked at my rego sticker and is had a 1747 Tare. So its fairly consistant.

Not to race this beast.

Was just thinking about everyones weights the other day, have weighed my with tailgate minus spare and jack plus about 20lts of fuel weighs 1777kg without tailgate weighs 1746kg I think the utes are about 60kg heavier than the sedans.

Yeah after the weigh in went to the servo and put in 48lts, so full tanks. So estimates of 20lts work out right.

I will race my car without the spare and jack so thats minus roughly 15kg
Full tank of fuel add 40kg
Plus my weight 135kg

Works out to be 1920kg........

whoa
