Default Calder price increase

This is from the Calder Park Website

ENTRY FEES - EFFECTIVE 7TH NOVEMBER 2007

Effective 7th November 2007, entry fees for the street drags will increase.

The new rates are as follows:

Street Entry Fee: $65.00 incl. GST (Includes driver accident crew and officials insurance)
Competition Entry Fee: $130.00 incl. GST (Does not include personal accident insurance)
Spectator Entry Fee: $25.00 incl. GST

mmmmmmmmmmmmmmm interesting looks like bitumen is expensive.

LOL...still, worth it isn't it. Interesting to see if some of the younger crowd drop off; doubt it though.

They tried the $65 last time and very quickly (within a few weeks) backed down again. Will be interesting if they can maintain the same attendance.

If it was me..I would have tried $50-$55 for a couple of months first.

$65 to sit in a queue for an hour with a bunch of ricers and only get 3-4 runs, yeah maybe not such good value for money. Heathcote here I come.

Heathcote would make a killing if it was closer to the city, not everyone can be buggered making the trip there and back.

$65!!!!!! That is expensive, especially on those nights when we can only get a few runs.

Heathcote may be far away but let me tell you, ive been caught a few times on the calder fwy in heavy traffic whilst heading down for some runs and for the time it took i couldve gone to Heathcote (Coming from the SE Suburbs). That extra 25 bucks can be put towards the fuel getting there and back lol!!!

Besides, ive only been to Heathcote once for the drag day and the atmosphere there is so much better.

Just out of interest, how much does it cost at WSID in sydney or Kwinana in W.A.

I would much rather wednesday night street meets to be honest, friday nights is old hat. Don't mind going to heathcote (i'm a sponsor there as well) but it's a whole sunday gone that's all and now that i'm nearly 40 i need some weekend rest..LOL.

I think WSID is about $70 from memory for street meets, Willowbank was much cheaper. We went to the bracket meeting the Saturday before the Winters in 06 and it cost $36 then.

I dont know about the others, but up here at Willowbank its $36, and you get a free spectator pass valued at $18 with it. So its $18 to watch, but if you have someone with you, you can effectively race for free.

$36! Damn thats cheap. But IMO so is $65. When you think of all the things that need to be done to make the night work, and be legal; its cheap.

I agree that its cheap, and if they put the price up to $50, I wouldnt complain one bit, the track is kept to the best of standards, they have eveyrthing prim and proper for everyone, and usually get a few runs in in a night (5+). The track is prepared awesome for every streetmeet, and all ready to go not long after the gates open.

WHAT RIP OFFS!

so thats $65 PLUS another $35 to get your wheel alignment done after you retard your front end on the return road pot holes!

i suppose they did this because summer is around the corner and more spectators would attend...next year, the price should drop again.

Mmm imo 65 bucks for three or four passes is expensive for the average bloke, I think 40 to 50 is acceptable. I will be suprised if Willowbanks prices don't increase soon, 36 dollars is quite cheap.

Hey James, they fixed all the pot holes. I went there 2 weeks ago, and caldar has improved a lot. Only problem is that it takes one hour per drag, compared to one drag every 5min at heathcote.

Kwinana is $40 for non andra liscence holders and $35 for Andra Liscence holders to drive at Whoopass Wednesday, Mystery Monday and Fast Fridays, all of which are street drags with burnouts.

The entry for spectators went up to $15 (from $14 I think) so its very affordable over here.

Hey guys, I know there are some dodgy prices here and there ...... and it is common for "insurances" to be used as the excuse, however, at the end of the day paying as much as $65 for the night with 4 or 5 passes is still a damned site cheaper than the fines and loss of points and in most states now, your car for hitting it up through a few sets of lights ...... where anyone can pull out in front of you or step out on to the road and all of a sudden you are facing manslaughter charges ....

Here in Vic, you guys really don't know just how good you have it with so many places to go and play legally ..... I just moved down from the Sunshine Coast Qld, where the closest legal venue (Qld Raceway and Willowbank) are minimum 3 hour trips each way on roads that here in Vic qualify as goat tracks!

Just my 10 cents worth.

Mate if we had a venue like WSID or Willowbank within three hours we would be chucking a party. Have you sampled the two 1/4 mile tracks here? A greasy butchers appendage comes to mind

Bracket Meets at Willowbank are $55, test n tunes are $36. I have already been informed that test n tunes will be $50 very very soon. Still very cheap compared to major meets, Winternats this year was $350, Tintops was $125, Powercruise Shootout with minimum crew just cost me $195 and I've been told next years Winternats will be $500 plus for the 3 days

Heathcote Park Raceway rocks - and does a great job of looking after forum members during our Drag events........

Good on you Joanne and Russ, great stuff. Ol bob could take a leaf from your book.

As soon as " ROB" Jane sees the lack of participants and spectators, the price will drop as it did last time. If you do the sums, 120 cars @ $65 = $7800 plus the fans on the very average spectator mounds equates to a tidy sum.

On the Calder web site, the increase in cost to enter, $65 includes officials insurance. Wouldnt CPR be responsible for this, not the racer?? WTF?? Shonky pack of pr!cks.

That $500 did you hear that from an official source or just chat? Thats going to rule out a fair few Grp 3 and 4 racers if its true
