No, I’m a little raced out right now. Last week we ran our Maloo in the Supercharged Outlaws State of Origin comp!

8.3 @ 165mph! It’s an 04 model but hardly a street car, so I like giving accolades towards true street cars when they are due.

It's just and external driven pump set which happens to lay behind a couple of cover plates right?
We don't argue here :

The unopened debate has gone on several times before and it is generally accepted that if oil pump gears are replaced it is counted as being opened.
You're correct about reliability, but fitting gears does give the benefit of being able to rev the motor higher which itself does help track times. There is also the chance of cam timing being altered while things are apart

a couple of threads of past discussions

http://www.fordforums.com.au/showthr...light=unopened

http://www.fordforums.com.au/showthr...=unopened+poll
there are more threads about it

Most threads tend to get locked

I think this thread is not about debating unopened Vs opened, but to highlight Craigs times, may it should be left to another thread

The car is so basic and full weight; I can’t congratulate Craig enough with his ability to get that thing really hauling like it does!

The car has so much potential, I reckon with a few more tweaks to the overall set-up, this car will certainly be brushing the 11’s very soon in its current unopened trim, all the time whilst keeping its perfect daily driving manners.

It’s just a nice car!

Pete.
Hey Peter thanks for coming out today with Jamo and lending some support, your help and knowledge of your Textralia clutches was certainly welcome as this big heavy car is not the easiest set-up to get down a killer racetrack.

Full report in the ACE section soon.

Cheers everybody for the kind comments.

And i class the BOSS V8 engine program OPENED if you have fitted Billet Oil Pump Gears as it is a performance advantage.

The oil pump gear discussions that have taken place on these forums has always gone a bit crazy but the general consensus here is that unlike the LS1 deal where you can change valve springs and still call the car unopened we class these cars as opened because the engine HAS to be opened to fit these gears, it's got me stuffed how you can change valve springs on a LS1 without opening it........end of story.

Drove it Up, changed the tyres raced all day then packed the ute up and drove 850klms home staight after. No trailers needed for this set up, Just a jack and wheel brace.
