The Victorian Drag Racers Club (VDRC) are holding round two of their super series on Saturday the 29th of April at Heathcote Raceway.

The draw card at this event will be the Supercharged Outlaws featuring round 1 winner Shane Baxter in his CC Dragster, John Ward, Doina Day and the awesome Funny Car of South Australian Greg Brown.

Another South Australian Funny Car will also be appearing but only in a testing capacity and that is Top Alcohol racer Frank Intini giving fans the opportunity to see times approaching the 5 second zone at well over 200 M.P.H.
Other classes on the day will be Modified, Hot Rod, Super Street/Super Sedan, Super Gas, Junior Dragster, Open Bike and Real Street.

Trophies and prize money are on offer for all classes.

All paying spectators will go into the draw for the ride of a lifetime, a ride in the passenger seat of a 9 second Drag car.

Spectators get in for $20, Families $35.

Just spoke to HPR.
What has happened is the VDRC are running this event, therefore they must take out there own insurance and get there own permits.
The permit and insurance they paid for only covers 200 mph limit, so at this meet there is a 200 mph shut down.
If they were to get a permit and insurance to cover 300 mph, the cost of the insurance would have sky rocketed.

Any Heathcote park run event or test and tune has no mph limit.

Ps: my 1st post is info from DRiVA, they are promoting with the over 200mph.
HPR Have already questioned why its been promoted with the ''over 200 mph''.

The 200mph limit is because of no fence on one side in the braking area I believe

Good to see heathcote are having these sorts of meets. Would they be able to run Top Fuel/Funny car and all brackets down the from that if a fence and/or other safety barriers are put in place? Maybe Heathcote could hold Vic meets if calder wont step up to the plate?

Good thing about heathcote, you can be close to the action. I remember years ago Romeo was racing up there in his Sidchrome funny car and we were watching on the road entrance side of the track, and the eyes were watering from the nitro

I have a couple of concerns with heathcote, from a street car point of view it is magnificent, it's a great days racing. From a future Nitro Funny Car owner/drivers point of view it has a couple of problems that need to be addressed.

The new burnout water boxes need to be changed, they currently have about a 2" edge at the back to hold the water but a funny cars oil pan/nappy/aluminium tray is only 1" off the ground which won't work.

The braking area is real rough and poorly lit.

Apart from that the racing surface is nice the walls are in the right place and the fries from the canteen are great.

From memory there was discussions between ANDRA and Heathcote about sanctioning the track and whilst they were happy to hire the track out for someone else to run sanctioned events they werent interested in being a fully covered track. I think the lighting was the reason the meetings were daytime rather than at night.

Bummer it was called of at 12.30 as the track wouldn't have dried out properly and its safety 1st.....There some very nice cars, plenty of cars I haven't seen before there were 30 cars from S.A. and 80 comp cars in total had pre-entered to run in this event.
Best feild of comp cars I have seen in Vic for some time..
Plenty of cars with some serious rubber.

HERE ARE SOME PICS.

I'm pretty sure that's the same car that used to be owned by Michael Taranto, ran low 10's about 3-4 years back with a 460 in it.

That engine is now in Michael's Mazda RX4 which runs low 9's or 8's from memory and he also has an XA GT with a 460 that runs 11's and I think is for sale.

I see what happened, Russell's burnout water pads overflowed down the race track.....LOL....

That dreaded rain word just destroys drag racing. I went to Seattle Washington in 1995 to an NHRA meet and it rained out on race day too. Not good for all the interstate travellers.
