I killed another commodore

Well I got it managed to kill my dail driver ... the VP ... :weirdo:

not after running a strong 13.6 @ 94mph and a 1.2s 60 footer on street tyres in full street trim (subs, full tank, street tyre pressures, etc) ... but then the sesond run, just as i shifted into 3rd gear i heard pinging over the sound of the exhaust and helmet, so i backed off ... still ran a 14.7 but now i got a volvo engine (5cyl).

I am not even gonna botehr about stripping this engine , just gonna get a replacement one and drop it in.

For those who can appreciate good performance and good times from any car, I am quite happy with ET as well ast the 165kw at the wheel and the stunning 780Nm of torque.

Now let the Buick flaming begin :evillaugh

Cheers
Mic

azaxr8 13-09-2008 11:47 PM

put the engine in a real car? nuff said?

EvilChief 13-09-2008 11:49 PM

haha ... i cant argue with the build quality of either car or engine lol

schnoods 13-09-2008 11:53 PM

I'd like to see a 1.2 60' time in all honesty from a VP.

Unless it was going downhill with a 4.44 diff, I dont see... Never know though.

vp is one of the lightest cars holden ever made and is still the quickest 6 potter to date.
i recomend you drop a VN TTB 5 litre V8 since you changing motors

dave289 14-09-2008 08:52 AM

165 kw at the wheels and 780 nm of torque.I'd like to see the dyno sheet on that if it exists.

i think you'll find that's tracktive effort.
not flywheel nm.

The only Buick V6 mtrs that could do 13.4 1/4 times and 0-60mph in 4.7 sec was the 1987 Buick GNX Grand national and that run a Garrett 16psi turbo is your mtr running a turbo?

A write up on the mtr plus a Y tube link

if it is all true its a nice time...shame about the motor dropping a cylinder...

LUXO_8 14-09-2008 09:34 AM

wow someone is one the money ...

yes the car is turbocharged :evillaugh

LUXO_8 14-09-2008 10:46 AM

chuck up some pics, always like sleepers, regardless of make.....

what are ya plans?, get another "wreckers special" stock motor, or knock one up with less comp?

EvilChief 14-09-2008 11:13 AM

I cant really afford to spend too much $$$ on this vehicle considering that i just bought a place for my otehr half and myself and we are still stuck half way through the finance process, plus I am building a 347W Turbo for my AU so I think a stock replacement is on teh cards. Also considering selling it, once new engine is fitted and buy a cheap 4cyl as unit needs a little bit of my and my $$$ attention.

so here is a scan of my first dyno run on 8psi with 155kW and 750Nm of torque at the wheels. also added drag slip at the top of the page.

BTWi I have been drag racing for nearly 8 years now, so i got a little bit experience in launching cars

Edit: Piston No4 is confirmed to have a hohle ...

nugget378 14-09-2008 02:43 PM

Even Brett Steven's experience wouldnt get that car into a 1.2-60'..

I used to launch my old 550hp falcon at 6500rpm on slicks for a 1.6 and it ran a hell of alot faster,it even broke the factory seat with that launch,a 1.2 would of pulled the dash out of its mounts...Sorry but Im calling this one a bit optimistic..

It could have another 3 turbo's,and 8 blowers for that matter and still wouldnt 60' that fast,if anything it would 60' slower,it takes alot more work to the chassis than the engine to get those types of short times..

What is it with some people???

People ask for photgraphic evidence of stuff and then when someone posts photos of this there are still doubters.

Always gotta be some /\ssh0le in every crowd

Where is this evidence of a 1.2 second 60' time?
I see a dyno slip, with no where near enough power on it to run that time,as a previous poster has added, low 9 second and better cars do 1.2 second sixty's,13 second cars can not, never have and never will simple as that..might need some reading glasses there champ,or some better comprehension skills at the very least :weirdo:

efgiar 14-09-2008 03:25 PM

people also forget that the first gear on vn-vs are huge and take off like all buggery.

They do 1.2's but ?

So they must look like this XW doing high 1.4's 60 ft ? :yelrotflm

nugget378 14-09-2008 05:22 PM

Sif any of those ratio's listed will beat a race car with a 4.88 rear and a 2.87-1st,,
get real,,and get a clue...

Do we have a pic of this thing with such a wicked launch?

If IIRC,the XW pictured above was doing 1.4-1.5 sixty's at the time of that picture....

protd 14-09-2008 05:45 PM

your not stirring your making a stooge of yourself, a 1.2 60' on street tyres come on dude wake up to yourself,

1 thing i can guarantee you is townsville drag way's timing equipment is dodgy at best, how many of these 1.2 60's did you run??

post up some more slips with these 1.2 60's on them

anyone that has raced at Townsville knows not to take any of there "one" off time cards as being right..

i mean last time i was there i run 1 pass at 10.3 @ 165mph i quickly went to the tower and they granted me another qualifying pass and i tossed that card in the bin, it happens all the time down there sorry to burst your bubble

Do you know how quick a 1.2 60' is???

cars running into the 9's don't do 1.2 60's, 7 and 8 sec prostreet cars may be able to crack into those sort of times, but a v6 commo on street tyres on the townsville dragstrip :yelrotflm

when you have been to that track you will understand
