Bah, that sucks mate. Similar thing happened to me the other week when some guy in a courier van decided to change lanes ontop of me... $800 later hopefully its back to normal when i get it fixed this week.

I wish these morons would do a bloody head check when changing lanes instead of just barging straight through.

Hopefully this will teach her to look in all directions when she gets behind the wheel now. It's unbelievable the amount of females/female p platers that I've come across while driving that do not look, lucky for them that I look everywhere.

Its a growing trend for drivers to just not look when merging, changing lanes.

Isn't the reason people buy XR8's so that no one can get close enough to do this sort of thing?

I'm a P plater but I learnt very early on that head checks are the most important thing to do. First, by driving an XF panelvan with basically no visibility through the rear view mirror due to the pillars through the barn doors, and then by driving an XB sedan with only a side mirror on the drivers side. You learn very quickly that way that mirrors don't always show everything. Especially when they aren't there in the first place.

Head checks, I've taught a couple of young NSW female P plater friends, and have made it very clear to always do that shoulder check, whilst emphasising to exercise the neck if required in order to do so (before the journey), all before starting the indicator.

And the rest, mirrors including the left, rear, and to watch for faster rear closing traffic and to wait till that passes before moving out to overtake.

Like this morning comming to work around a round about.

This silly woman was day dreaming on a busy road.

1. stops when its clear and right too go.
2. Then when a person is comming upto the right of her (on comming traffic)

She decieds to go and almost gets t-bonned (esp being wet today)

On a good note eb2flyz, being that black paint shows all manner of scratches & swirls you'll at least have nice paint for a few weeks

Some guy in a g220 almost ran me off the road the other night. He was driving in the lane next to me, indicates the side im on, I thought surely he saw me? But I decided to brake anyway, by the time I had my foot on the brake he was halfway into my lane and I ended up missing him by a few centimeters.

EB2Flyz, i fell your pain mate. But you have got it easier than me. I had just over a month ago an old tart run into the side of me. She caught just infront of the front left door all the way through to the quarter. Need a whole new left hand side. But it doesn't stop there. Her insurance company is owned by my one, and therefore i have been tossed out and tolled to pay excess for her car. When i told them to f@*k off and won't be paying a thing, they decided they would start sending me threats n stuff. Its so frustrating that people can't honestly do a headcheck. The reason i have been given for being at fault is that she had an indicator on, and i shoulda slammed my brakes at 60km to let her turn into a parking spot : . Can people tell me how the hell im in the wrong.

Well anyway, as long as its fixed and don't have to go through the crap i am.

On Tuesday night I did something really stupid. I had a night production meeting and was heading home before midnight, about 30 mins drive at that time. I had had a bad sleep the previous night and was looking for a McDonald's or something to have some dinner because I could feel that I was tired and hungry.

I was waiting to turn right at some lights, there being a McDonald's. But on closer inspection it was only 24 hours on Fri and Sat nights, so I did a mirror and head check, seemed empty behind me, and reversed quickly to go into the straight lane.

When I hit the brake to go back into drive, a dark van shot past me on the other lane and I was shocked. I don't know where it came from! Maybe it didn't have its lights on, or I was too tired. But I went into the straight lane and waited, feeling pretty dumb and took a deep breath.

Almost crunched the back of my car with some poor innocent other road user.
