The iPhone I have won't stream music with the USB & Head Phone jack combo. The car doesn't recognise the iPhone as an iPod. I just tried an iPod with the USB & Head Phone jack combo & it worked fine. I can control the iPod from the car, volume/tracks play list etc. With the iPhone I can stream the music via Bluetooth, but I have to control via the iPhone.
I was trying to get away from the $150 fine in WA for using hand held devices in the car. The phone part of the iPhone works great, no probs via bluetooth so that part is fixed, but it'd be great to be able to control the music via the steering wheel controls. does any one know of a fix for this? |

Discovered the same issue and tried everything. Gave up as I think it's a software issue. I plugged an old ipod nano into the glovebox and use the iPhone via bluetooth - don't bother with music from it for the car as I have 500 songs on the iPod and another 500 on CDs in MP3 format. I am happy with this setup.

I did read somewhere, and I could be wrong, that it might be worth trying to put your iPhone into iPod mode before plugging in the cable?
