Has anyone else seen the GWM Tank 300 and thought it was a Ford Bronco?

So? Arguably, Bronco looks like a Wrangler.

Any reason why Ford wouldn’t bring the Bronco here?

The hardcore 4wders here still largely buy utes, or old troopies/Patrols and the cashed up ones just go straight to Landcruisers. It's difficult to gauge that segment's popularity as the Wrangler is squarely in it, but not that many sold. Is it because people don't want to buy a new bush-basher, or do they just distrust the Jeep brand....

They look pretty close, but different enough to keep GWM safe.
The new Bronco reminds me of a Toyota Rukus with big wheels The GWM looks more Lada to me. Now this I would think would have been a better seller than the current bronco, I would line up to buy one , it sort of has that International Scout type look, pitty its just a rendering. |

Or was the Bronco a knockoff of the International Harvester Scout we could equally ask. The earlier Bronco looked a lot like a 77 1977 Scout Traveller:

The only similarity I see between the Bronco and Tank is the round headlights with the bar through them. If anything I see more similarities between the Tank and the Wrangler.

Jeep had a court case against Mahindra to stop them from selling their Wrangler Clone here.
Seeing that GWM was here 1st could they stop the Bronco from being sold here on the same grounds?

We've got the Everest, we aren't getting the Bronco.
It a shame there isn't an offroad focused Everest though (with a petrol engine)

originally there were real engineering issues with RHD. I don't know if that's been fixed since launch. however, if the F150 conversion business makes money, I don't see why they wouldn't at least consider Bronco.

This was at the Canberra (in Queanbeyan) 4x4 show last year. (ARB evaluation vehicle)
It's bigger than it looks, much bigger than a Wrangler.

Its not like the US has surplus Bronco production that they can afford to build RHD variants for export....

If Thailand is their country of choice, then why aren't they building a factory in Thailand to build things like Bronco and Maverick.
They seem incapable to scale up in the USA, nor do they seem to care about other markets.

It's not some Raptor Everest prototype with a Bronco body on it?
Remember when the first Everest prototypes came out which had a Territory body?

Simply comes down to numbers, and how small the hardcore off-road wagon market is. Wrangler, Defender etc only sell in small numbers. The potential sales figures aren't high enough.
But they continue to look at it. I reckon converting them to RHD is probably the safer bet, and the numbers aren't so critical. Cause building them in the factory as RHD is a hell of a lot more costly than converting them. |
