I am very interested in buying an RS2000, but how do I know if it is an original or a replica? I live in Adelaide and they are never for sale here, so I am looking at cars in other states but cannot travel to see them myself.
Are there a specific set of VIN numbers I should be looking for? Can I trust someone (a professional) to do a vehicle inspection for me??? |

I wish I knew the answer, but alas I don't.
http://www.rsocvic.com I'm sure these guys will though. Good luck with the search, did you see the "project" that sold on ebay last week in Adelaide? $4,500 odd I think. :

Champ go to http://classicford.mine.nu/forum/default.asp But just a quick guide would be: VIN/engine numbers should start with: CK41######R 2 door RS,or CK42######R for a 4 door. Model Codes : 11918 RS 2 door and 11938 for a 4 door. All AUS delivered RS should have front scheel sports seats, sports dash with RS decal,3 gauges in the middle a 3 spoke steering wheel, short throw shifter, obviously the droop snout nose cone in ABS plastic, and look for original RS guards as they can be made up from standard MK2 guards.ABS rear bumper returns.and foam/rubber boot spoiler, Diff should be 3.54:1 ratio which is stock 2ltr anyway as is the g/box ratios.Autos were an option too. It should have a HC 2ltr and look for a numbers matching to VIN block. MMM thats about it..........

you have just missed a couple of cracking cars, both 4 doors that were recently sold on classic ford forum. one in WA was prepared to ship it to another state free. it was a very nice looking car as well. i have seen it in the metal and it would have been worth every cent and then some. good luck with the search.
