I looked at the car again when I got home today...I really just wanted to go and get the tools out and start putting stuff back together!

Hopefully Saturday. Work commitments mean I now have to work Friday. I would much rather be working on the car then in a meeting with a bunch of accountants :(

Started work on putting it all back together today...Didnt get as much done as I wanted too...always the way!

I did manage to fit the manual pedals, Brake booster and master cylinder, clutch cylinder, gas convertor, Brake lines, Engine mounts, Shockies, bonnet cable and catch.

I think the slave cylinder for the clutch is stuffed! Fluid was pouring out of it. It shouldnt do that should it?? Can you get these reconditioned or do you have to buy a new one?

Also, the clips that hold on the brake lines...Can you re-use the old ones or do you have to buy new ones?? I couldnt work out how to fit them back on.

Pictures coming soon...

You can buy little rubber seal kit.....new ones are quite cheap on ebay too. There's not much too them, but a reco or new one feels so much better.

For a reco clutch master cyl just go to Repco or similar, not Rare Spares. I don't know about the clips but possibly generic freebies to throw in with the master cyl?

GT Ford Performance sell repo brake line clips and also speedo cable clips of original steel type. I used the later plastic type as you can unclip the lines if ever needed easier.

Thanks for the replies guys. I might have to just go for the plastic clips for now. I have picked up a new slave cylinder so all good

Had a really bad day today. Work got cancelled this morning so I thought...You beauty! Will get stuck into it and get it already for the engine to go in on Tuesday.

Didnt work out that way. My poor neighbours heard more swearing and throwing of tools then they have probably ever heard in their lives! It was just one of those..nothing goes right days!

I did manage to take all the old tape off the wiring harness and sort out a few issues with it so not too bad...one step at a time

We will get there!

WAHOO!! MOTOR IS IN!! :

Despite it being rainy...We put it in anyway with the help of our son John, Jack and I...we managed to get it in with no fuss at all.

Only issue was putting on the extractor bolts. That was a right royal PITA!! but it went in no dramas what so ever!

Tomorrow we will finish hooking up all the bits and start her up!!

Also managed to get the exhaust organised for a fit before the end of the week. Is all good! Feeling much less stressed about Echuca now.

Did you put the XC brake master cylinder in the car or was it always there?

I have a coupe of questions for you guys...

First one relates to the Starter motor
Our old starter motor has two connection terminals and the new one has one. Where does the brown wire go?

Second one is about the coil.
Using a bosch GT40 coil, it says use a resistor. Do we need to use a resistor if we have the electronic dizzy?

May seem like silly questions, but I know nothing about this stuff and cant find it in the manual.

Cheers

Looking great! I like the colour wrap around the wiring, blends in well. You won't need a resistor for running an electronic dizzy- that's just for points distributors. The starter should have a main terminal with nut that the thick power wire from battery + bolts to. Then there should be a small terminal that the signal wire from ignition goes to. It may be in a different spot to the old one. Unless the starter you have is designed to run with an external solenoid in which case the main wire from battery would run to that (normally mounted behind battery near the shock tower on the inner gaurd), then to the starter and your original signal wire(brown) would run to the solenoid.

I think I may have the issue with the coil and starter sorted now.

Thanks for the reply NET351. I thought that may be the case but wanted to make sure and...I like the colour wrap too

Thanks TruBlue351....your email explaination was fantastic!

Will let you know how I go...Looking at a Tuesday completion time. We need to get this all done before Thursday... :
