your better off putting the money in the bank so if some car hits you you've got the money there + there is no fees

And when you hit the car in front you????

I have all 3 of mine insured, I am 32, rating 1 for life, 1 at fault accident in life (bonnet flew up uver windscreen) and pay as follows,

FBT $723 per year, agreed value of $47 000 Suncorp

XHXR8 $788 per year, commercial insurance

ELXR8 $927 per year, all mods inclusive.

Add that with just on $800 per car for rego, and it all starts looking bad for the wallet.

Too Bl*&dy Much!!!!

Just got the renewal and it's $688 for our 2001 AUII Fairmont Wagon with Tickford Suspension and 17" wheels Agreed value of $24,400, which way higher than the market value. But the difference is only $40 in the premium!

I'm going to do a shop around this week as I think we can do better...

You might want to consider if your at fault in even a small accident that causes one of the many saftey devices on the numerous cars that have them to deploy, for example a mazda 3 side air bag deploys, the replacement for that is the front seat as it cannot simply be repacked. without any other damage to the vehicle and without labour, that part to replace is $7000.00 thanks for comming. The basic point I am making is there are very few accidents that cost under $5000.00 in repairs.
Another example you may wish to consider..hit the back of a mer or a bmw and those cars may deploy 4 air bags, even if the damage is not much fixing the air bags is. This is part of the reason insurance premiums keep going up because claims get more and more expensive with each extra saftey device and also why certain companies price themselves out of the market on cars they don't want to cover.

ITS BEEN SAID BEFORE AND I'LL SAY IT AGAIN, IF YOU CANNOT AFFORD AT LEAST THIRD PARTY PROPERTY DAMAGE INSURANCE, YOU CANNOT AFFORD YOUR CAR.

Geeez, a touchy subject for me here. When I was 19 (1988) my pride and joy was rear ended by an uninsured driver. I couldn’t afford to fix it and I could only afford third party property, fire and theft. So the end result was, I had to drive my immaculate HJ around for three years with the **** end smashed in.

CRUIZIN EB, my advice to you (you don’t have to take it) is , if you can’t afford at the very least, third party property - fire and theft, then you can’t afford to drive. Leave the car at home.

What would you do if you rear ended this?

Cheers, Danny

Thats very funny, but in actual fact he can be made to contribute towards the repairs for the percentage of extra damage he may do, just the same way your insurance company may ask or expect a contribution towards any accident damage if it for instance had pre exisiting hail damage or other unrepaired damage, and yes it is quite easy to tell the difference between old and new damage.
