Default BF XR6T ute drive impressions

Just had a quick squirt in an BF XR6T ute, have to say it surprised me a bit, the transmission is unbelievably smooth, though there seems to be a slight hesitation in kicking down... the launch is good and midrange pull is great.
The new braking package is a big big improvement, and the traction control is good, it's not harsh when it cuts in and you barely notice it. All in all its a pretty good upgrade, can't wait to sample the rest of the range!

interesting comment on the kick down..did you notice the kick down switch?

because you might have thought that you were at WOT, but actually I think about 95% I think, once you go through to the switch then its 100% and it automatically drops 2 gears.

its kinda cool, instant kick down on demand.

didn't notice the switch point to be honest, it was a quick drive not long enough to discover the intricacies of the workings of the gearbox, especially with the traffic and conditions, will have more cars with which to form a better opinion of it over the coming weeks.
Passenger commented it felt faster than the SS ute he was driving, so thats a good sign I guess

yeah like I said, you will only notice the switch when you go to WOT. Best way to do it is to slowly go the whole way from 0%-100%. Once you work it out its great.

Its going to be a painful thing to educate the buyers, but its not hard to show as you can do it with the engine off also.

didn't notice any lag in gear changes in manual mode... I get to try an auto XR8 soon, hoping they have improved it a bit else it'll be further behind the turbo

What does 'Sports' Mode give you in the ZF Box? I know in the ION Box, you get three gears, instead of the four. I don't use it, however if you get 5 or even 4 gears in 'sports' mode, I would actually use it.

You've motivated me to test drive one of these things! If i can get a drive this week id be happy. Just dont like the dealer harassing me afterwards, they just dont take no for an answer.
