Default Looking for a good paint shop recommendation in Melbourne

Hi Guy’s,

Well like the title says, I’m in Melbourne & I’m looking to get some work done on my coupe.. I’m only back form 2 years living OS & it’s time to give my Coupe some TLC, some of you may remember her..

Well she has a horrid dent in the drivers side rear Qtr & some other scratches & dents etc.. & I’m looking to get those fixed & get the car sprayed, at this stage I’m not looking to strip her back to a bare shell & do a complete rebuild I’m just looking to have her blown over in the same colour.

I’ve just commissioned a new engine build up for her, but I want to get the paint looking good before I drop in the new motor.

Any advice on good places to go would be great, Thanks

Hi Dave, welcome back. I remember your coupe!!

Try Fernglen Panels in Ferntree Gully. I've used them and been happy with them. The timeline might be a bit tight if you're looking to have it in time for Echuca though.

There may be other recommendations with a quicker turnaround.

Trev's auto body in Hallam www.trevsautobody.com.au/

He's got my coupe in there at the moment for a full body resto, so you could go in and see the quality of work he does. it's very good.

Palace Automotive in Moorabbin. Tas has specialised in Coupes forever.
I've just had a falling out with my painter and Tas will get all my work in the future including the Capri I'm about to start on

Has Tas restored any of your cars before?

No not as yet, but I have got to know him very well through the coupe club and he went above and beyond the call to help me when I was assembling the Fed car.

I've seen your coupe there
Trevs in Hallam is very good and doesn't charge a bomb
I got him to repaint my bonnet scoops for the Geelong all ford day
Lots of good suggestions on this thread
Another Trevor, Trevor Davis in dandenong is an award winning restorer
You can see a lot of his work on YouTube
Has featured on Gasolene many times and also reasonably priced
That's who I'm going to when mine eventually comes off the road
I don't work far from his business and Ive seen XY's , Camaros , rods corvettes XB coupes all sorts of cars there
I can't help my self but to stop and check out the mirror finish paint jobs
He also does all Frank Potelli's GT resto work
Hell of a nice guy as well

All the good ones are pricey and there lies the problem. Cheap means long delays, bog over rust etc etc. To quote someone wiser than me.... You can't polish a **** but you can paint it!

Sorry to rant a little but I'm over people that make promises that most times they know they can't keep then it's somehow the car owners problem/issue.

Sorry forgot to add my point. Do your research, go to a reputable paint shop, pay a little more and be happy.

I keep forgetting that my car doesn't need the "typical" rust repairs needed on most coupes

If you guys are still looking for a paint shop, have a talk to Brett at old auto classics
15A Viking Court Cheltenham Vic03 9555 9806Mob: 0402 215 176

www.oldautoclassics.com.au<http://www.oldautoclassics.com.au>

I've seen a lot of his work over the last 8weeks and it looks good.
My brother has been getting his car painted there, and from the photos Ive seen looks very good.

Cheers
Tony

I saw your coupe today at Trevs Auto body works while I was picking up a 9 inch diff housing he painted for me
He tells me it will be in colour this week
You should post a couple of pics when it's painted
Just looking at the panel gaps and the body work you can tell its going to come up great
